美国石油钻机数量通常被视为是石油行业活动的风向标。在2014年10月达到1609座的历史峰值水平后，低油价令生产受到压力，从而导致石油钻机数量的大幅减少。然而自去年夏季以来，石油钻机数量再次步入上升通道。

The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. rose by 21 in the past week to 652, according to oil-field services company Baker Hughes Inc.
